Ivy falls has a rich and mysterious past, which is slowly being unearthed as the island is restored over time. The valley through which the Ivy River flows was once home to a wealthy dynasty, and a prosperous community who excelled in artistic and seafaring endeavors - sailors, poets, philosophers, and jewelcrafters are among the many citizens believed to have made their home within Ivy's shores.

Ivy Magic, the princess herself - only daughter of the ruling dynasty - was named after the peak upon which the family's castle stood and had developed a romantic relationship with a young sailor from a nearby village. They would meet under an old oak tree in the middle of the night, within a small forest at the Northern end of the river.

Ivy's parents disapproved of their encounters however, and had them discovered one night by soldiers from the castle. The sailor was banished and sent to battle on the high seas. Ivy gave him her emerald locket as a keepsake. She never saw him again, and to this day his name remains unknown.

The locket however, returned to the valley around the neck of a Pirate Captain, Jesam Nightfire, who's men plundered the land, and enslaved those local villages too slow to escape from the valley. The Princess Ivy is said to have leapt to her death from the castle balcony in despair.

For years, travellers passing through the ruins of Ivy Falls told of wandering spirits, and wrestless spectres haunting the rocky depths. Nightfire's journal, recovered only months ago records his and his men's final days at Ivy Falls, the last to wander it's land in decades.

On December 4, one of the journal's last entries, the captain wrote:
"Two weeks have passed. A storm has wrecked us. Four of my crew were drowned in the tunnel to the old vault. Leaving it littered. The ship, thrown against the land. Dark nights I grow weary. I see her near me during dark days. She calls to me. She curses me. The sailor's locket burns my skin and I have removed it. I fear it too, now bears a curse."

Claiming the vengeful spirit of Ivy herself was haunting him, it suggests the captain was driven mad. He took his own life soon after, in the old jail beneath the courtyard, where the fishing dock now stands.

Restoration work on Ivy Falls, is constant, and new life has breathed a sense of redemption and peace into the valley. In June 2008, adventurers and explorers helped locate the cursed locket and free Ivy's spirit. Nightfire's spirit in turn, was aroused, and it is said, he is periodically seen wandering along the river, lost, and ashamed, and that once a year, on Hallow's eve, he stirs his men from their watery tombs and they haunt the isle once more.

Ivy's spirit while free, remains nestled in the hills. She watches over her once proud land, as it is reborn and offers her protection and peace to all who visit. The locals like to think two swans, who have made their home in the river are the lovers reunited.

They, as we do, welcome you to Ivy Falls.
